The IE Foundation, with generous support from Bernard Dallé, announced a transformative scholarship program on December 10, 2024, aimed at empowering academically outstanding Cameroonian students. This program is further designed for students who have strong academic and personal profiles, a deep commitment to their home country, and significant financial need. It represents a major step in supporting the careers of many young people in Cameroon.
The IE-Dallé Family Scholarships for Misongi Scholars
Bernard Dallé, a seasoned investor and operating partner in a multi-stage venture capital firm, officially established the IE-Dallé Family Scholarships for Misongi Scholars on November 22, 2024. Gonzalo Garland, Executive Vice President of the IE Foundation, and Geoffroy Gerard, General Director of IE Tower in Madrid, formalised the initiative together.
Bernard Dallé remarked during the signing ceremony, “This partnership reflects our shared vision of fostering excellence and creating leaders who can drive meaningful change.”
Gonzalo Garland echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the importance of developing leaders with a global outlook while remaining deeply connected to their roots. “The IE-Dallé Family Scholarships for Misongi Scholars perfectly align with the IE Foundation’s mission to make education accessible to talented individuals who will contribute positively to society,” he said.
Misongi’s Role in the Scholarship Program
Misongi, an organization dedicated to identifying and supporting promising Cameroonian students, played a key role in securing the scholarships. Onyekachi Eke, the Director of IE’s West Africa Region Office, met with Veronique Hob-Hob, the Founder and Director of Misongi, in Yaoundé. During this visit, Eke hosted an information session for Misongi scholars, offering insights into the world-class education at IE University.
This engagement not only highlighted the exceptional quality of the scholars but also strengthened ties between IE and Misongi, laying the foundation for a transformative collaboration.
Scholarship Benefits and Criteria
The IE-Dallé Family Scholarships will initially support one Cameroonian scholar per academic year, covering 100% of tuition fees for a Bachelor’s program at IE University, along with a living expenses package. Applicants must gain admission to Misongi, demonstrate academic excellence, showcase leadership potential, and present a vision for making a lasting impact in Africa.
The scholarship aims to remove financial barriers, allowing students to focus entirely on their academic and professional growth. Recipients are expected to return to Cameroon or another African country in the future, equipped with the knowledge, skills, and experience needed to address local challenges and contribute to sustainable development.
The IE Foundation’s Commitment to Education
The Dallé Family Scholarships are part of the IE Foundation’s broader mission. Founded in 1997, the foundation funds scholarships, supports research, and fosters social initiatives. It collaborates with both individual and corporate partners to ensure that students from diverse backgrounds can access IE’s innovative educational programs. In 2023 alone, the foundation awarded over €24 million in scholarships, benefiting more than 7,500 students from 140 different nationalities.
