Leaders of other political parties are attending the SDF Extraordinary Convention holding at the the Yaoundé multi-purpose sports complex to determine the party’s flag bearer at this year’s presidential election.
MMI’s reporters have spotted Hon Cabral Libii of the PCRN party, Barrister Akere Muna of the Now Movement, and representatives of UPC party.
Another surprising appearance is that of human rights lawyer, Barrister Agbor Balla.
Barrister Balla has been making political statements lately but has refrained from stating whether he is joining the SDF or any other political party ahead of the October elections.
Before the convention started properly, we spotted him in the VIP room sharing a meal with SDF bigwigs.
Inside the convention centre, he was seen in a serious conversation with Barrister Akere Muna.

Aside from the politicians present, there are also members of the diplomatic corps.
The atmosphere at the convention center is electrifying as SDF militants sing songs and dance to the beat of their thriving internal democracy.
They are the only party, among over 300 in Cameroon that has a culture of holding primaries to choose a presidential candidate prior to each election.
All SDF delegates from all the 10 regions of Cameroon are present at the primaries and they constitute the electorate.
Hon. Joshua Osih, the SDF chairman, stands out as the preferred candidate. However, the party’s National Advisory Council is yet to release the list of contestants.
The theme for this convention is “Together, transformed, and more determined.”
