Cameroonian MMA champion Francis Ngannou has expressed deep condolences following a tragic motorcycle accident in Yaoundé over the Easter weekend in April 2025, which resulted in the death of 17-year-old Ntsama Brigitte Manuella.
The incident occurred in the Omnisports district of the capital, and according to updated reports, Ngannou was reportedly riding the motorcycle involved in the crash. Early accounts had conflicted on whether he was operating the motorcycle or if his vehicle had struck one.
Victim Died Following Emergency Surgery
Manuella sustained critical injuries, particularly to her arm and leg. Ngannou reportedly transported her to Yaoundé General Hospital and covered her medical expenses. Tragically, she died during surgery due to the severity of her injuries.
Ngannou Speaks Out
In an interview with American media outlet TMZ, Ngannou conveyed his sorrow and support for the victim’s family.
“From the very beginning, I have been by the family’s side, offering support, comfort, and my deepest condolences during this time,” he said.
“I’ve met with them privately to share in their grief, and I will continue to stand with them every step of the way,” Ngannou added.
He further stated, “I carry their pain with me, and my unwavering thoughts and support remain with them as they face this heartbreaking loss.”
Ongoing Investigation
Francis Ngannou explained that he is unable to discuss the details of the incident while the investigation is ongoing, but he stressed that he is grief-stricken by the situation.
Authorities in Cameroon are currently investigating the circumstances of the crash. Public calls for transparency and accountability have intensified, but it is unclear if Ngannou will face any legal consequences.
