A heartbreaking tragedy has struck the Walia neighbourhood in the south of N’Djamena, Chad. In the early hours of May 1, 2025, the lifeless body of an 18-year-old pregnant woman was discovered by local residents. This was just hours after disturbing cries were heard throughout the night. The grim scene unfolded in the 9th arrondissement of the Chadian capital.
Victim Found with Severe Trauma
The community immediately became concerned when they found the pregnant victim. She was in a condition that suggested severe physical trauma. “We heard screams late at night,” one local resident recalled. “We had no idea that such a terrible crime had occurred until the body was discovered this morning.”
Upon receiving the alarm, the criminal brigade quickly took charge of the investigation. Early forensic examinations indicated that the victim had suffered significant violence before succumbing to her injuries.
Swift Arrests Lead to Investigation
Commandant Amoula Mahamat Awoulzou of the BU9 brigade led a swift and targeted operation that resulted in the apprehension of two suspects later that day:. They are Sadjima Dimanche, the victim’s partner, and Rodrigue, a friend of Dimanche who is suspected of being an accomplice.
“Through intense and focused investigative work, we were able to identify and arrest the perpetrators in a very short time,” stated Commandant Awoulzou. “We are also committed to uncovering all the details of this horrific crime.”
Community Shocked by Brutality
Both men are currently in police custody, and the investigation is ongoing. Authorities have vowed to leave no stone unturned in the quest for justice for the young woman and her unborn child.
Local residents of Walia have expressed their disbelief.
“It’s hard to comprehend how anyone could do something like this to a pregnant woman.”
