A teenager, identified as Penn Chris, from Pinyin in Cameroon’s North West Region, was found dead on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, in the Ntarinkon neighbourhood of Bamenda. The grim discovery has shocked local residents and raised concerns about escalating violence in the area.

Gunshots Heard by Residents

Residents reported hearing a series of gunshots around 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening. Eyewitnesses said they saw an unidentified individual fleeing the scene on a motorbike shortly after the shots.

“I heard the gunshots but was too afraid to come out,” said one local resident, who wished to remain anonymous. “This morning, we found the body lying just a few meters from the roadside around this place commonly known as Le Bien.”

Unclear Circumstances Surrounding Death

The exact circumstances of Penn Chris’s death remain unknown. Penn actively participated in the ongoing Anglophone conflict before being displaced from his home.

Family members revealed that Penn had recently returned from Douala prior to the incident. The community grapples with grief and questions about the violence affecting young people in the region.

Calls for Justice and Peace

This tragic event highlights the continuing instability in the North West Region and underscores the urgent need for peace and security in Bamenda and surrounding areas.

As investigations continue, local authorities have not yet released an official statement regarding the incident.
