The second edition of TEDx Yaoundé 2026 has been officially announced, with organisers promising a deeper, more reflective conversation on resilience, growth, and transformation.

Scheduled for April 19, 2026, at La Maison de la First Bank in Yaoundé’s Hypodrome district, this year’s event will run under the theme “Unbreakable: Rethinking Resilience.” The announcement follows a widely praised inaugural edition that positioned TEDx Yaoundé as a rising platform for ideas and dialogue in Cameroon.

“Unbreakable”: Beyond Survival to Transformation

At the heart of this year’s theme is a shift in how resilience is understood. Rather than focusing solely on endurance, organisers say the event will explore resilience as a process of transformation—an opportunity to rebuild stronger after adversity.

The concept draws inspiration from Kintsugi, a traditional Japanese art form that repairs broken pottery using gold, highlighting cracks rather than hiding them. The philosophy symbolises beauty in imperfection and strength in recovery.

Organisers say the presence of the Japanese Ambassador to Cameroon at this year’s edition adds symbolic weight to this message, reinforcing the cultural and philosophical roots behind the theme.

Organisers Emphasise Personal Growth and Renewal

Speaking during a press conference on April 11, Mrs. Aline Essono, head of speaker coaching, underscored the deeper message behind the event.

She said the goal is to challenge individuals to rethink how they respond to personal struggles, stressing that setbacks should not define a person’s trajectory.

According to her, the event aims to inspire people to “pick up their broken pieces and rise again,” reframing adversity as a catalyst for growth rather than a barrier.

Diverse Line-Up of Speakers Announced

The 2026 edition will feature a diverse range of speakers, bringing together innovators, entrepreneurs, and thought leaders from Cameroon and beyond.

Among those announced are representatives from key institutions, including the Director General of CAMTEL and IAI Cameroon, alongside notable Cameroonian voices such as Amang Claude Abanda, Ebai Ekwet, and Paul William Pondi.

International speakers from the United Kingdom are also expected to join the line-up, adding a global perspective to discussions.

Storytelling, Innovation and Impact

Participants can expect a programme built around powerful storytelling and lived experiences. Through personal narratives, speakers will explore themes of resilience, identity, and transformation, offering insights aimed at inspiring change both at an individual and community level.

Organisers insist that resilience is not simply about surviving hardship, but about emerging stronger and redefining one’s path forward.

A Platform for Ideas Worth Spreading

The global TED initiative has designed the TEDx format to amplify “ideas worth spreading” through independently organised local events.

In Yaoundé, the platform continues to grow as a space for dialogue, innovation, and critical thinking.

Led by organiser Nadia Habsatou Kalkaba, TEDx Yaoundé is positioning itself as more than just a conference. It aims to foster a community of thinkers and change-makers willing to challenge perspectives, embrace transformation, and contribute meaningfully to society.

Building Momentum in Cameroon’s Thought Leadership Space

As anticipation builds ahead of the April event, TEDx Yaoundé 2026 is shaping up to be a key moment in Cameroon’s intellectual and creative calendar.

With its focus on resilience reimagined, the event seeks not only to inspire, but to provoke reflection on how individuals and communities can navigate adversity in an increasingly complex world.

In a context where challenges are often deeply personal and structural, the message is clear: resilience is not just about holding on—it is about rebuilding, rethinking, and rising stronger.
