Students at the University of Buea have received specialised training on emerging digital career paths, with a focus on forensics and cybersecurity, during a two-day workshop organised by MBV Consulting Group. The initiative targeted mainly students from the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences, equipping them with skills aligned with the demands of today’s evolving digital economy.

Workshop Focuses on Digital Economy and Career Readiness

The training, held on April 23 and 24, 2026, at the Conference Hall of the Advanced School of Translation and Interpretation, formed part of the Global Career and Digital Economy 2026 programme. Organised in partnership with MBV Consulting Group, the workshop was held under the theme: “Developing evidence-based, risk-aware, and industry-ready human capital for the digital economy.”

Participants were introduced to practical and theoretical concepts designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry expectations, particularly in high-demand fields such as forensic investigation, cybersecurity, and digital finance.

Academics Highlight Urgency of Digital Skills Transformation

Speaking at the event, the Dean of the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences, Emmanuel Yenshu, described the workshop theme as a reflection of an urgent reality facing higher education.

He noted that traditional models of knowledge transmission are no longer sufficient in a rapidly changing world, stressing that students must now combine academic knowledge with practical competencies such as data interpretation, digital literacy, and ethical decision-making.

According to him, employers increasingly prioritise skills such as analytical reasoning, forensic awareness, and regulatory understanding over academic qualifications alone, highlighting a shift in what defines career readiness in the digital era.

MBV Consulting Emphasises Forensic and Cybersecurity Careers

The workshop was facilitated by MBV Consulting Group, led by its CEO Mbuh Vincent, who underscored the growing importance of forensic careers in the digital landscape.

He explained that the initiative aimed to expose students to forensic investigation as a fast-growing and underexplored career path, while also introducing modern auditing techniques that leverage technology for continuous monitoring and early detection of irregularities.

According to him, the transition from traditional accounting methods to technology-driven auditing systems is essential for improving transparency and responsiveness in financial management.

Students Trained on Forensic Accounting and Digital Finance

During the workshop, students from various faculties received training on a range of topics, including forensic accounting, digital finance and the VFAT framework, financial integrity, governance, fraud risk management, and strategies for global competitiveness and wealth creation.

Participants said the sessions provided clarity on career paths they had previously heard about but did not fully understand, particularly in forensic auditing and investigation.

Certification and Follow-Up on Practical Impact

At the end of the programme, certificates were awarded to students who successfully completed the training. Organisers indicated that follow-up measures will be put in place to assess how effectively participants apply the knowledge gained, particularly in bridging the gap between theory and practice.

Beyond training, MBV Consulting Group positions itself as a specialised advisory firm focusing on forensic auditing, investigations, accounting, and cybersecurity solutions, contributing to capacity building in Cameroon’s growing digital economy.
