Cameroonian musician Blizzy Dice, whose real name is Angafor Kwechan Fuebunui Cylfred, has admitted that claims circulated in 2025 about his supposed arrest were part of a publicity stunt intended to attract attention to his music.
The 27-year-old Bamenda-based artist was reported at the time to have been arrested over alleged drug possession and possible involvement in the deaths of several young people. Those claims were false. Blizzy Dice was not arrested, and the allegations concerning drugs and deaths were not based on real events.
MMI News was among the platforms that reported the claims. We are publishing this article to correct the record: the arrest did not happen, and the previous allegations should not be treated as factual.
Blizzy Dice now says the stunt was a mistake made during a period when he was desperate for public attention and career recognition. Although it generated publicity, it also associated his name with serious crimes and caused damage that continued long after the promotion ended.
“The fake arrest—I alerted the media because I wanted to promote my latest project at the time,” Blizzy Dice told MMI News. “I also thought it was a strategy to cut myself off from a circle of bad friends. That way, I saw some of them for who they really were. They condemned me and insulted me, not knowing that it was a fake arrest.”
“And I can tell you, I was right, because their reaction told me just what I had anticipated,” he added.
The musician says he now regrets the decision and accepts responsibility for creating the false story.
His admission follows the release of his latest song, Worry Nomore, which draws on his experiences with family difficulties, fatherhood, personal setbacks and faith.
Blizzy Dice says the publicity stunt became so widely believed that some people still think he was imprisoned.
“Many people thought it was true, that I was in jail,” he said. “Even when people saw me outside, some were surprised to see me walking free, and others still thought I was in jail. ‘When did you come out?’ some would ask me, thinking I was actually jailed. So, I thought it was time to set the record straight and use MMI News to inform the world about the fake stunt I pulled.”
Blizzy Dice says he grew up struggling with feelings of rejection and spent years searching for love and acceptance. According to the artist, difficult family relationships contributed to a period during which he developed habits and made decisions that he now considers harmful.
These descriptions concern his personal experiences and perspective. They should not be read as independently established claims about members of his family.
He says becoming a father changed how he viewed his life and responsibilities. After his relationship with his son’s mother ended, he assumed primary responsibility for raising their child. He describes fatherhood as one of the experiences that forced him to reconsider his choices and the direction of his life.
The artist says Worry Nomore emerged from that period of reflection.
“I made this sound to remind myself every day that I have God inside me because I overcame storms that could kill anyone,” he said.
He describes the song as a message to people dealing with private struggles and a reminder to himself that past mistakes do not have to determine the rest of a person’s life.
Returning to the circumstances surrounding the false arrest story, Blizzy Dice said the substance shown in the publicity video was bicarbonate, rather than an illegal drug. He also told MMI News that a number of people were involed in the stunt. .
“There is no need for me to repeat the stunt ever anymore. The way I acted out the drama, people thought it was true, while my objectives were met, i still think the facts have to be established, especially if my fans are still confused” he said after MMI News sort to know whether his current statements were also not another stunt.
“I involved so many people to come and be part of it, and everyone who participated was told to do so. I do not take drugs. As seen in the video, I was holding bicarbonate in that stunt video and not drugs. This is my truth and will remain this way,” he added.
Blizzy Dice’s remarks represent his account of how the video was produced.
“I don’t think I would like to pull a stunt like that again. I have learnt my lesson,” he added.
The musician says his priorities have since changed. He is raising his young son as a single father and says much of what he now does is intended to give the child a “better and examplary future”.
Blizzy Dice says he wants his own life to provide a positive example for his son. He hopes to raise him to make responsible choices and avoid following harmful examples as he grows older. For the artist, this also means acknowledging his own mistakes and changing the behaviour he would not want his son to repeat.
His effort to rebuild his public image begins with correcting the 2025 story. He cannot undo the stunt or the publicity it generated, but the facts are now clear: Blizzy Dice was not arrested, and the allegations of drug possession and involvement in several deaths were untrue.
