The Paramount Fon of the Pinyin Clan, HRM Atsaaapifo Khan Keneth Asobo III, has called for stronger security and clearer traditional leadership structures to promote peace and development in the North West Region of Cameroon.
He made the appeal on October 16, 2026, during his maiden official visit to North West Governor Adolf Lele L’Afrique, where he also requested the upgrading of the Pinyin Fondom from second-class to first-class status.
The traditional ruler urged authorities to strengthen the local Gendarmerie post with additional personnel and equipment. He also proposed supervised community vigilance initiatives to improve crime prevention and protect lives and property.
Atsaaapifo thanked the administration for its support since his designation in November 2024, noting that improved security had enabled him to complete his enthronement rites in April 2026.
He announced that his coronation is scheduled for December 30, 2026, ahead of the first Ilere Festival of his reign in January 2027. He invited the governor to both events, describing them as important milestones in preserving Pinyin’s cultural heritage.
The Paramount Fon also met with Mezam Senior Divisional Officer, Simon Emile Mooh, and Santa Divisional Officer, Jules Roger Nkolo Voundi, as part of consultations aimed at strengthening cooperation between traditional authorities and the administration.
His appeals come as communities in the North West continue to face security challenges linked to years of armed conflict. The proposed security measures and clarification of traditional leadership structures will require sustained collaboration with authorities to translate the calls into lasting peace and development.
