The Mayor of Buea, Ekema Patrick Esunge, has heaped heavy criticisms on CPDM party hierarchy in the Southwest Region for selecting a small confined hotel to launch the party’s 2018 Presidential elections regional campaigns, whereas there existed better alternatives.
He was speaking in Buea shortly after close to 500 CPDM militants for the Southwest thronged the Buea Mountain Hotel to launch activities towards President Paul Biya’s run in the October 2018 presidential elections.
According to Mayor Ekema Patrick Esunge, organising an event as big as the launch of CPDM campaigns for the entire Southwest Region in a mere hotel that cannot accommodate the party’s population was a novice choice from the party hierarchy.
“We couldn’t have organised such a massive event in a mere hotel when we had 2 to 3 alternatives. We could have used the Buea Independence Square, the council premises or the Youth Animation Centre, where our party has always held its events.”
It should be noted that the mayor, alongside some senior Buea Council officials, staged momentary pauses in the hall during the campaign launch.
.
While the mayor from time to time either rained insults or pled for an opportunity to speak, other members of Buea Council like Barrister John Kamane, Councillor for Great Soppo, interrupted most of the speeches with his murmurings and loud utterances. He even went ahead to wage personal attacks on some members of the high table.
From the look of things, the Buea Council officials came to the event to err out their grievances and frustrations on how the party activities are being carried out in the Buea Municipality.
Nevertheless, Mayor Ekema Patrick Esunge promised a hundred percent vote from Buea for President come October 7 2018 presidential elections.
