Barrister Akere Muna of the PFD Party has raised concerns over what he termed inequitable sharing of wealth in all the regions of Cameroon. As his campaign team made a stop over in Doumé en route to Bertoua, he promised better days for the suffering population

“People in this region are exhausted from living in poverty…” the coordinator of NOW movement wrote on his Facebook page.

He described the East Region as the richest but regretted that its resources are poorly managed. The 66-year-old legal mind said improving the living standard of the people will be his priority if he is elected on October 7, 2018.

“The eastern region is one of the richest in Cameroon in contrast to the extreme poverty of a large part of the population. The outrageous exploitation of the resources of this region does not benefit the people. I wanted to reassure my compatriots that change is coming. One of The New Republic’s priorities will be to regulate the exploitation of our mineral resources” Akere Muna said.

Barrister Akere Muna has also said his New Republic will introduce institutional reforms to consolidate democracy, rule of law and a corrupt-free state.
