Hon. Jean Mitchel NINTCHEU, Littoral Regional Chair of the SDF has maintained that the planned protest billed for, October 21st in Dakar, will take place despite ban.
The DO for Douala 3, Nohou Bello has issued an order prohibiting the peaceful rally, whose sole objective was to denounce what Nintcheu described as massive fraud in the just ended presidential election in Cameroon.
The support of his fellow SDF party comrades is not certain after Lottin Same Adolphe, SDF Wouri Divisional Coordinator, issued a release dissociating the party from the move.
But a host of opposition parties, civil society actors and activists have vowed to join their voices to call on Paul Biya, 85, to step down.
A released program of the walk, Sunday issued by the organisers said:
“11am gathering at the roundabout Dakar (market) for the free sharing of knits
11.30 am explanation of the march, instructions not to break anything.
12h massive affluence, and end sharing knits.
12:30 arrive from the honorable nitcheu of the SDF, last instruction, rallying song.
1:00pm start of the walk.
NB: the destinations will be given in the field,
The international media are already aware of this march and will cover this march to see if there is a burr of the biya army.
Come with your phone to film any violence if there is to send the images to the international”
A similar protest has been announced for Monday, at the Yaounde Conference centre where the Constitutional Council will be proclaiming official results of the October 7th presidential election.
Some observers have argued that the manifestation was supposed to hold after winner of election has been announced.
