A wild fire from an unknown source has consumed over 16 shops at Mvolyé, the main supplier of furniture in Yaoundé .
The loss is estimated at FCFA 200 million and affected over 50 persons.
The fire that started at early Wednesday went out of control within 8 minutes, reducing to ashes entire sales shops and workshops.
Worthy of note is that, furniture is the main source of livelihood for hundreds of persons here in Yaoundé. The fire has crumbled many as it didn’t spare finished items like chairs, cupboards, tables, beds and any other items made out of wood. Tools used in making these items were consumed as well. Some victims of the fire incident say they have no hope for life. Investigation is still going on to unravel the source of this unfriendly fire.
