Cyrille Tollo, a university don has belittled a recent letter addressed to President Paul Biya by some nine members of the US Congress.
To Tollo, the authors of the letter are all Democrats, reducing its weight.
“It is also not an official letter signed by congress President Mike Pence or speaker of the house Mrs. Nancy Pelosi or the leader of the democratic majority” Tollo adds, stating that it lacks official character.
“As a reminder, the government organized the grand national dialogue. It was inclusive, some chose the boycott, it’s their right” he went on, explaining that the resolutions are “being integrated into our legislation and regulations. The reaction of our moderate English-speaking brothers, shows that the law is pretty well received”.
“It is not perfect like any human work, but it goes in the right path, with wide autonomy granted to the Northwest and Southwest regions … the country is moving forward and peace will return” said Cyrille Tollo.
Members of the post national dialogue sensitisation caravan in several parts of the conflict hit Anglophone regions weeks ago it should be recalled were not received by locals, many of whom said they still don’t understand the content of the special status, one of the key recommendations of the National dialogue.
