The President of the Ayah International Foundation, Ayah Ayah Abine says he believes the Cameroon government is after his life.

In a social media post, Ayah Ayah says he has “been reliably informed that all is set for me to be neutralized in the coming hours/days by the Government of the Republic of Cameroon”.

At about 4 a.m. today, he explains, he received another alert as he and his team were preparing a humanitarian outreach to the Ndian Division. The trip, he notes, has been suspended till further notice.

“It’s not very clear what neutralisation exactly means in my context, but let it be known to all who follow us at home and abroad, who the authors and accomplices of my possible ‘disappearance’ are,” Ayah wrote.

The leader of one of the most renowned aid groups in the North West and South West regions prior to this had reported several threats on his life through different channels including calls, text messages and on social media.

Of recent, the Ayah International Foundation has been dealing with some controversial topics that left its followers on social media divided.

Former Ambazonian activist, Success Nkongho who recently returned from Nigeria with other refugees and ex-fighters accused the foundation of having links with Ambazonian fighters.

The Ayah Foundation, he said, “is a terrorist organisation used by Ambazonians to buy and transport guns”. It remains unclear if the aforementioned are connected to alleged plans being hatched by government.

Following the recent suspension of its aid mission to the Ndian Division, many say victims of the war will suffer most due to the challenges the Ayah Foundation is facing.
