The Popular Action Party (PAP) says military men killed innocent civilians in Babanki village, Tubah Sub division – Mezam division in the North West region of Cameroon on the 28th of February.
In a release published on the facebook page of the president of the party, PAP condemned soldiers in Tubah sub division for the killings and burnings.
According to Njang Denis, national president of the Popular Action Party, military men killed more than nine civilians at Chuku quarter in Babanki-Tungo(Small Babanki) “…in an attempt to neutralise Amba fighters as always said. The victims include children (Cletus 7years old boy) and nursing mother (Mama Promise), Mama Yandjan, a father( Pa Sahnbeng) amongst others”.
The PAP says it has carried out an independent investigation. “An eye witness told the PAP intelligence unit that Captain Bakary in Tubah sub division ordered the killings of some women who took refuge in the bush as they were on their way to the targeted area, but one of the soldiers refused killing the innocent women, arguing that the women were not theirs target. The notoriety of this Captain should be a call for concern in this zone”.
Given the gravity of the killings and destructions carried out on daily bases in the Anglophone regions of Cameroon, PAP says it is time for Cameroonians to keep aside all differences and work towards putting an end to the terror.
“We want to remind the government that every life is precious and priceless, and as such, for no reason should people be killed for expressing their political opinion.”
By writing this, PAP calls on President Paul Biya to call for a cease fire, release political prisoners and engage in real and inclusive dialogue. The party describes the regime as an illegitimate one that has been the brain behind the killings.
Government has since refuted killing civilians, stating that all those killed were separatist fighters.
