A man whose names MMI got as Ako Joseph has been shot dead in Muyuka- South West Region of Cameroon.

Talking to MMI, a family member said Ako Joseph was to travel out of the country in the days ahead and was heading to Buea to get a yellow fever card from the hospital.

Ako the family member said, went to Buea yesterday but had to return today due to the absence of electricity.

“In Buea, he had to collect money and make the card,” the family member tells MMI, adding that his flight ticket had been paid and all other travel documents put in place.

In the last conversation with the relative on WhatsApp, Ako Joseph is heard explaining the challenges he faced due to the lack of electricity.

“I finally didn’t succeed to get the yellow card so I’ll return (to Buea) tomorrow. In addition to the network problems in Buea, this is the third day we have been without electricity,” he told the relative.

“My battery is very low right now. If there is any message for me you can leave it online. When I get back to Buea tomorrow, I can charge it using a generator,” he added.

In another incident, five persons have been killed in Ikata, still in Muyuka – South West region.

“The military invaded the village early at 5:30 a.m., went to a new settlement in the bush and burnt all the buildings, killing 5 and wounded 4 others,” a source has told MMI.

Ikata like most villages in the North West and South West regions of Cameroon has been raided by soldiers on several instances, leaving residents in fear.
