Breaking! Confirmed Coronavirus Cases Rise To 17 In Cameroon

The Minister of Public Health has said three new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in Cameroon.

In a communique published on Thursday March 19th 2020, the Ministry of Health said the three were passengers on board flight Air France (AF 900) that landed at the Yaounde Nsimalen Interbational Airport Tuesday March 17th 2020, at exactly 8:30pm, from Roissy-Charles-De-Gaulle with 198 passengers.

Public health Minister Manaouda Malachie has urged other passengers who were on board the flight to respect the self-quarantine measures in place to contain spread of the deadly disease. He also urged them to “call the 1510 emergency number”.

Minister Manaouda Malachie has announced the creation of an isolation centre of international sanitary standards at the Yaounde Sports Complex.

On behalf of the government of cameroon, Manaouda Malachie told individuals and families from risk countries to be responsible, respect and the 14-day isolation period before engaging in any activities, or coming in contact with others in a bid to avoid further spread of the disease.

The announced three new cases bring to 17, the total number of confirmed COVID 19 cases in Cameroon. Public health minister in an outing on state media on March 18th 2020 said the number of confirmed Coronavirus Cases were at 14 accross Cameroon.
