“The Cameroon People’s Party, the group ‘Mothers of Nation’, human rights groups and Cameroonians today feel a little relief as the regime of President Paul Biya has claimed responsibility of the killings in Ngarbuh on the 14th of February 2020” a statement from Edith Kah Wallah, leader of the Cameroon People’s Party reads.

Reacting to a report of an investigative commission put in place to get details of what happened in Ngarbuh, she laments the inhumane action.

To Edith Kah Wallah, it is true soldiers cited in the report of an investigative commission as having committed the act have been arrested and will face the law (as stated by the government) but to her the move is not enough.

According to the politician “The reaction of the soldiers to kill innocent men, women and children in Ngarbuh was carried out in a war situation caused by politicians and administrators in Yaounde.

Therefore if the government of Cameroon is really serious to show remorse for the killings, some ministers and top ranking persons responsible for giving the orders should be dismissed from the government”.

The founding leader of the group “Mothers of Nation” says by presenting the report of the commission closed to two months after the commission was put in place further discredits the regime of president Paul Biya both at the national and international levels.

She states that while creating the commission on the 27th of February 2020, President Paul Biya gave eight days for the report to be available.
According to the report of the commission made public Tuesday April 21st, soldiers from the military base in Nkambe- Donga Mantung division in the North West region of Cameroon stormed Ngarbuh killing several unarmed civilians and burning down houses.

Observers say what happened in Ngarbuh- Ndu Sub division in the North West is not an isolated case. They argue that several of such killings have taken place in the North West and South West regions of Cameroon since the beginning of the Anglophone crisis.
