“Any call for elections in Cameroon without solving the Anglophone crisis will be an open declaration of war” – Maurice Kamto

The President of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement (CRM) has warned the regime in power that he intends to do anything for justice and a return to normalcy in the country even if it means taking up arms.

Addressing Cameroonians via his official Facebook page today June 1, 2020, he declared his support to the Anglophone populations of the North West and South West regions amid their present plight which to him can completely be attributed to the negligence of the Biya regime.
Maurice Kamto stated that the CRM party will stand up to all forms of political manipulations, even if they touch the constitution. He blames the Constitutional Council for giving Cameroonians a hard blow when they declared a candidate who had not galvanized the grass root population to support him as the winner of the 2018 presidential elections.

It is vital to remember that the aftermath of this elections became a nightmare (and still is) to the CRM party as members were brutally mishandled and thrown to jails for standing up for the truth by protesting against Electoral Holdup in Cameroon and the military brutalities in the North West and the South West regions.

Kamto followed suit by praising Cameroonians who heeded to calls for the massive boycott of the February twin elections, saying the action alone has shown the Biya regime how fed up the people have become of this dictatorial regime, which have so far remained deaf and indifferent to the sufferings of the Anglophone population in the North West and South West of the country. A crisis, he insists time without number, was as a result of the negligence and indifference of the Biya regime and boldly states that the CRM will not accept any popular elections to take place in Cameroon unless the Anglophone Crisis has been completely resolved in whatever way, provided it will bring peace to the two regions and to Cameroon at large.

The CRM president said anyone who will for whatever reason take part in such a sham of an election will have to answer to the Cameroonian people and to history. Cameroon must practice Democracy which is internationally recognised and accepted, with the restitutions of the freedom of expression and state transparency.
CRM president equally called for the release of jailed CRM members else the element of force might have to be employed. As he stated: “Some of the CRM members including the Vice President of the party are still in jail. If death is the price to pay for their sake, then so be it”.

He however ended his speech with a general call for all Cameroonians to register massively for a voters card and preserve, so that their votes will make meaning when the right time comes.
