Following the brutal murder of woman by alleged separatist fighters in Muyuka, South West governor, Okalia Bilai recently convened a crisis meeting to map out strategies to eliminate such actions from the region.
“Reacting to this unacceptable situation, the governor of the Southwest region decided to convene a crisis meeting that witnessed the participation of major stakeholders, most especially administrative authorities, locally elected officials, traditional rulers, civil society and human rights defence organisations, defence and security forces, the media etc which registered the unanimous condemnation of this unbelievable act of cruelty” stated the communiqué.
The governor in the release equally urged all political actor, religious leaders and other opinion leaders to step up their various efforts to help bring out the separatists from their hideouts from where they continuously commit these heinous crimes such as that on the video.
He also affirmed the readiness and determination of the government to seek out suitable strategies to systematically put an end to the crisis rocking the two English regions for the past 4 years now.
The video has drawn national and international condemnation from persons of all walks of life.
Cameroonian politicians like Akere Muna have termed it inhumane, Barbaric and unacceptable.
Several separatist leaders have equally condemned the act but no faction of the separatist has claimed responsibility for the actions.
