Two people have been shot dead in Ndzenji, a quarter in Kumbo, North West region.
Locals accuse soldiers of carrying out the act, following continuous gunshots heard this morning in the area.
The victims a source says are a suspected separatist fighter and an unidentified man.
“As I speak,gunshots is heard all over the town. Maybe the boys have retaliated” the source suggests.
“The military this morning stormed a Mosque at Ndzenji quarter, Kumbo where Muslims were doing their morning prayers” another source confirms.
Allegedly holding worshippers hostage, the source adds that two have been shot dead. “Nobody knows exact number of those still being held inside the mosque.”
Shootouts between soldiers and separatist fighters in Kumbo are fast becoming normal, and have left the town paralysed for several months now. The past weeks have also seen movement in and out of the violence hotspot town harder than ever.
