The peasant population of the North and Far North Regions of Cameroon, through the Sahel Walter, have received funding worth billions of FCFA.
The money is meant to finance the establishment of solar power plants in the two regions.
Through this project, the inhabitants of the North and Far North regions of the country are expected to benefit from the construction of boreholes and solar pumping systems for drinking water, supply irrigation and watering for livestock as well as access to solar electricity for households.
Four municipalities of the North and the Far North Regions will benefit.
The beneficiary communities include: the Kamarki in the Wina Mayo Danay Municipality, the Bizili in the Touloum Mayo Kani Municipality, the Kawasaki in the Kousseri Municipality and the Kismantari in the Garoua III Municipality.
Inhabitants of both regions have expressed their gratitude to the Swiss government for the donations that will aid in advancing the standards of the people of the North and Far North Regions.
