A second train derailment in two months and a third since 2016 has happened in the locality of Eseka, in the Centre region of Cameroon.
Reports say a freight train coming from Yaounde ran out of it’s track at the Souhè tunnel last night.
Teams from the railway company, Camrail, have since been at the scene assessing the damage.
Like the previous accident, yesterday’s derailment has left several meters of train tracks destroyed. The exact amount of damage caused however is yet to be revealed.
In the 2016 Eseka train incident, close to a hundred lives were reportedly lost and more injured.
