Germany-based Cameroonian, Wilfried Siewe has left the country after regaining his freedom.
He had spent the last two years at the Kondengui prison in Yaounde where he was held for no justifiable reason.
He has however promised to return and contribute his own quota to make the nation a better place.
He is quoted to have said “I have plans for Cameroon and I intend to come back if I am given the visa. We are the ones who are going to build this country. “
He is said to have also declared his allegiance to the Cameroon Renaissance Movement, MRC after his release, noting that the party kept him alive in jail.
“Without the MRC, I would have died in prison. They came to visit me every day. They fed me, groomed me, lifted me up and made a lot of friends. What I saw them do convinced me that this party has a great vision for Cameroon. I am now a sympathizer ” reports quote him saying.
Allegedly tortured, Wilfried says he lost a lot of blood and was close to death when he was saved. “They tortured me so much that I lost a lot of blood, and I was dizzy. They threw me in the truck to take me to SED. Without Doctor Kouam, I would be dead”
In April 2020, some 73,000 signatures were recorded for an online petition for his release, but the Cameroon government gave a deaf ear.
He was arrested in February 2019 while taking pictures of the ministry of justice, and was detained despite being forced to delete the images.
He was later accused of partaking in the January 26 2019 riot at the Cameroon embassy in Berlin, an accusation he refuted.
