Military officers in Buea, accompanied by repented separatist “General” Nambere, are combing the locality of Mile 14 Buea to rescue the Chiefs of Mile 15 and Mile 16 localities who were kidnapped this afternoon.

One of them Chief Emmanuel Ikome of Mile 14, died this evening while in separatist captivity and his body was discovered by security officers in a bush, we gathered.

The late Chief’s body has already been carried to the Buea Regional Hospital Mortuary where dozens of sympathisers are condoling with family members.

Gunshots are persisting at Mile 14 but individuals who left the area said just a few vehicles could still manage to use the road.

“There is tension in the area, several people are indoors, other residents are now making plans to move to safer towns,” says a source.

The Chief who died alongside his peers who are still in separatist captivity, took part in this December 6 Regional Elections which the separatists had warned councillors and traditional rulers from participating in.

The three outskirt localities where these Chiefs were kidnapped have usually been prone to separatist activities and last month a woman was reportedly shot in the Mile 14 locality.
