Cameroon has bowed out of the ongoing African Nations Championship, CHAN. The host nation lost to defending champions Morocco’s tonight four goals to zero. Morocco will in the finals face Mali which booked a ticket earlier, beating Guinea 5-4 on penalty shootouts.

The Anglophone crisis in Bali Nyonga yesterday took a different turn as Separatist fighters in the region blew off a military armored car. Though the car appeared to not have been significantly damaged, it is not known if there were any serious military casualties after the attack. Separatist fighters in the Anglophone regions have recently turned to pure guerilla tactics as they have chosen attacking by surprise in recent times especially in Limbe and Bamenda.

According to these fighters, that was supposed to serve as a warning to participants of the competition, as to them they were intruding.
There is tight security in Limbe as the second semi final match is taking place. Military men have been positioned around the Limbe Omnisport stadium and along the street to deter separatists from any attempt of violence.

The people of Bambalang in the North West region of Cameroon, are accusing the military of killing a mentally deranged person in his house today. In a video, the people have shown the body of the victim with his intestines which got exposed following the shooting.

Tanzania’s health ministry has denied claims being circulated on social media that hospitals are overwhelmed with Covid-19 patients. The ministry’s permanent secretary, Mabula Mchembe, said the public should not spread fear among people. The government has repeatedly been accused of playing down the threat posed by Covid-19.
Uganda’s president has ordered the suspension of a multi-million dollar fund set up by donor countries, after complaining that it is run by foreigners and undermines Uganda’s sovereignty. In a letter, Mr Museveni ordered the police to investigate how the finance ministry had allowed foreign donors to have what he called a “free rein” to choose which activities to finance, without needing the consent of the government. The Democratic Governance Facility is funded by seven donors, including the European Union.
The Ethiopian government has dismissed reports that tens of thousands of civilians have died in the conflict in the northern Tigray region. On Tuesday three opposition parties in Tigray accused Ethiopian and Eritrean soldiers of carrying out widespread atrocities and said 52,000 civilians had been killed. The Ethiopian government described the reports as unsubstantiated and politically motivated. It said it regretted any civilian casualties but said there had not been a significant number due to the professionalism of the military.
