Hundreds of customers of a defunt microfinance institution called COMECI have gathered at its Akwa office in Douala Cameroon to receive money they saved in the financial institution before it was declared bankrupt years ago.
While some customers have been expressing satisfaction for receiving their money several years after COMECI shutdown some are unhappy.
“I have not been paid 750.000f I saved in the micro finance. I don’t want any interest. Let them pay just my money,” a client declared in desperation.
They want COMECI to pay all what they are owing at once arguing that the microfinance has caused financial pains to customers for many years.
Other customers have died and their saving documents misplaced therefore frustrating any means of retrieving money they saved by relatives.
Officials of COMECI they will be paying their former clients progressively with assurance that each of them will receive money saved.
