President Paul Biya of Cameroon has addressed a condolence message to the President of the National Assembly following the demise of Hon. Emilia Monjowa Lifaka.
In the condolence message addressed to Hon. Cavaye Yegui Djibril and read over national radio, Friday April 23rd 2021, Paul Biya recognises the enormous contributions made by Hon. Emilia Monjowa Lifaka in the law making house in Cameroon while serving as a member of Parliament for Fako for over fifteen years.
“Hon. Emilia Monjowa Lifaka was a loyal militant of the Cameroon People Democratic Movement and an elite of the people of Bakweri in the South West” he stated.
While expressing condolences for he and his wife Chantal Biya, the president of the republic specified that the death of the Vice President of the National Assembly is a great lost to her constituency, the national assembly and Cameroon which she served with dignity.
Addressing the condolence message to the president of the National Assembly instead of the biological family of Hon. Emilia has however generated criticisms.
This week, president Paul Biya addressed a condolence message to the eldest son of Cameroon’s first president following the death of Germaine Ahidjo in Dakar Senegal.
In the same vein, critics say they expected a condolence message to addressed to the biological family of the fallen parliamentarian and not only the National Assembly.
Hon. Emilia Monjowa Lifaka died on Tuesday April 20th 2021at the age of 62 following a brief illness.
