The Tubah gendarmerie brigade has reversed a temporary restriction on the circulation of motorbikes.
On Tuesday, following an announcement by the Ambazonia self-styled General No Pity in Bambili, it caused the brigade to suspend the circulation of bikes around CCAST Bambili and the University Street, areas seen as the only working space for bike riders who ply the area daily for a living.
According to Nestor, a bike rider in the area, the decision reinstating the movement is laudable.
“How can we feed ourselves and our families? We carry students to school and back from school daily to be able to have something to take home at the end of the day. We are not terrorists,” he said.
Another bike rider, Nicodemus says the military should rather build an alliance with the riders to ensure there is security in the area rather than always look at riders as sympathisers of separatists fighters.
“Some of us are parents. Some of us love peace. If we are stopped from working, we lose,” said Nicodemus.
At the moment, uneasy calm reigns in the area though its not certain if General No pity has made a U-turn or not out of the area.
