The Kenyan High Commissioner to Nigeria, Wilfred Machage on Friday, July 2, refuted information that his country arrested and deported Biafra leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

He said Kenya has a good diplomatic relationship with Nigeria but has no intention of mingling with Nigeria’s internal affairs.

Machage is the second Kenyan official to deny the country’s role in the recent arrest of Nnamdi Kanu, after an earlier denial by Kenya’s Interior Minister.

The Kenyan High Commissioner to Nigeria said his country “does not want to be dragged into Nigeria’s internal affairs.”

A brother of Nnamdi Kanu had stated that the Biafra leader was arrested in Kenya.

Kenyan authorities had said that Kanu was arrested at Jomo Kenyatta Airport, from where he was handed over to Nigeria’s security agencies.
He thus appealed to Nigerians to leave his country out of an issue that bothers on Nigeria’s internal affairs.
The Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, was arrested on June 18.

On Friday, Kanu’s lead defence counsel, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, said his client was arrested and detained for eight days by Kenya’s Special Police Force, before he was eventually handed over to their Nigerian counterpart.
Nigerian authorities have not issued any statement on where the Biafran leader was arrested.

“My Client – Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, was actually abducted by the accursed Kenya’s Special Police Force on the 18th of June 2021 at their International Airport, and consequently taken to an undisclosed residence under dehumanizing conditions. He was tortured and subjected to all forms of inhuman treatment which worsened his health condition.

“He was illegally detained for eight good days in Kenya before being transfered to their Nigerian counterpart,” Nigerian newspaper Vanguard reported on Friday, quoting Kanu’s lawyer.
