For several weeks now, Cameroonian students who are on a fully funded scholarship programs to the Kingdom of Morocco have complained and accused the Government of neglecting their needs.

Some days ago, the students camped outside the Cameroonian Embassy building in Rabat in protest against the Government, as they were thrown out of their homes for 18 months of unpaid rents.

With their last agitations unheeded to, the students have once more camped outside the embassy, with signs and posters expressing their discontent at the treatment given them by their government.

One of such posters read’ “Cameroonian Students on Scholarship abandoned by their Government”.

These scholarship students from the Ministry of Employment and Vocational Training say this has been going on for months prior to them being thrown out of their houses.

“In August 2020, we recieved a 6 months advance and were asked to wait for the rest of the scholarship. Since that time we have only been given empty promises…” Says one of the students.

He added: “We were kicked out of our different accomodations, we have been on the streets for several days now, abandoned to ourselves by the Cameroonian Embassy in Rabat”.

The protesters have also revealed that the Cameroonian Ambassador, Mohammadou Yousifou is aware of it as he comes into and out of the Embassy frequently, but ignores them.

They have vowed to camp outside the embassy building till a solution to their problem is found.
