The city Mayor of the Bamenda City Council, Achombong Tembang Paul says the suspended road construction works within the town will resume soon.
This comes after the Ministry of State Property and Land Tenure approved the 30metres width for the roads in question.
Mayor Achombong Tembang Paul made the declaration during the mid-term city council session for 2021.
He described the approval as a significant step towards the restart of construction works that have been suspended for months due to technical differences between the World Bank and the government of Cameroon.
“For a project to be financed, those who are in the way of the project have to be compensated and they can only be compensated on the strength that the state declares the area for state utility” he stated.
He added: “We want to thank the minister of State Property who granted us access to 30metres of road width”.
The City Council, the Mayor said, “… can now assure all those whose properties were destroyed within that framework that they will be compensated”.
Recently, the population had expressed frustration since construction works were stopped.
The city Mayor also blamed the slow execution of projects in the city to insecurity and heavy rains.
