Statistics from education officials in the North West region show an increase in the number of pupils and students in schools across the region.

Education stakeholders have expressed optimism that the figures will rise as the new school year unfolds.

North West Governor Adolphe Lele Afrique, who visited some schools in Bamenda Tuesday, September 7, 2021, cautioned hesitant parents to join the back-to-school efforts by sending their children to school.

The chief executive of the region expressed optimism about the rise in enrollment.

“Classes have resumed full gear in some areas and slowly in other areas. We are hoping that by next week, we will have a massive turnout out of students.”

“Nothing in the North West region should prevent us from sending our children to school”, the governor noted.

Statistics from the regional delegation of secondary education show an enrollment of over 3,000 students at the start of the new academic year across the region.

In all seven divisions of the region, there’s at least a timid start to the academic year.

Statistics indicate that the Mezam Division has 48 schools that have opened their doors, Donga Mantung 42, Bui has 11, Menchum with 24, and a total of 152 colleges have opened this academic year.
