Cameroonians held their breath on the night of September 16.
Videos from Ndop look like Rambo first blood ,or documentaries like blood diamond, beast of no nation, the fall of Mogadeshu.
For those who have not been privileged to see such movies, at least they must have watched the exploits of ISAKABA boys. Separatist fighters stunned even the civilian population in a viral video that showed two armed vehicles go off in flames with their content.
Separatist fighters, with no military training and weaponry savvy, led by the self-styled general NO PITY surprised the nation, killing over a dozen elite soldiers of the BIR.
By midday September 16, a leaked voice note circulated on the social media warning all soldiers and related services to stay away from the Sabga-Ndop-Bui stretch of the road.
The announcement was clear, stating that General No Pity had left Kumbo that morning with a motorcade of over 50 bikes onboard three fighters per bike and was Ndop bound.
Few minutes after 8pm, a video reportedly shot around 4pm the same day stunned Cameroonians. Separatist fighters, a combination of Bamessing – Bambalang led by General NO PITY ambushed two armored cars.
The video presented the armored cars in flames with separatist fighters celebrating what many have now described as the biggest separatists hit of the military since the onset of the armed conflict.
As darkness fell, dead bodies of soldiers were projected with a background narration by a fighter. The video presents dead bodies of soldiers, broken limbs, mutilated body parts as they are presented naked.
Show of strength…
The separatists fighters by the ambush of Friday September 16 showed the world how powerful they have now become. From a catapult at the Bamenda commercial avenue in 2016, den guns in 2017, AK47s in 2018-2020, the use of improvised explosive devices.
The Friday episode showed General Pity operating a rocket propelled grenade launcher that will cost the nation a dozen soldiers a year. This transcribes the military might, skill and weaponry that separatist fighters and recognizance they have acquired as the armed conflict drags on in the northwest and southwest regions of Cameroon.
The fact that the separatist neatly carried out their attack, killing all soldiers in the convoy, took time to celebrate their booty and harvest of guns, presents the Cameroon military that might have run short of a reason why they are fighting the separatist. The incident presents an outstretched military and one with a dwindling morale.
What future holds for residents of Ndop?
Given that the Cameron military is good at always storming every community each time a soldier or a dozen are killed, Residents of Sabga, small Babanki ,Bamessing and Bamballang are contemplating of self evacuation, pending an imminent invasion of the military who often come with venom, beating of the civilians, extra judicial killing, summary execution and burning down of homes.
People are scared, trapped and confused without any head way of what to do next. Separatist have instituted the Gutteres lockdown till October 2nd making things worst for the civilian population who would have loved to leave the area and its environs.
Cameron military-separatist fighters as master/trainee of manslaughter
Denizens of Bamenda woke up on Monday September 13th to be ambushed by dead bodies lined up at Finance Junction Bamenda.
Each passerby was compelled by the military to come and have a free view, take pictures and even film. Many people were surprised that a well trained army with the moral obligations to protect the citizens and demonstrate the moral role of not ambushing the weak with bloody corpses rather did just the opposite.
The message seems to have been well read by the separatists who nursed the burning anxiety to give the Cameroon military a replica of their action. It is not the first time, separatist fighters are learning from the military that man slaughter and public demonstration of corpses is a better way of war.
The first person to be slaughtered and dismembered like a goat was SAM Soya of Belo that was butchered right in front of the Bamenda regional hospital mortuary and the images circulated in the social media. Since then, each time the military kills fighters, they film and upload on social media. It is feared the master trainee relationship might live on.
Western writer in one of his writings puts it that life itself is just an episode in general drama of pain, as the doors of an inclusive dialogue remain shut, and as the days continue to pass by separatist fighters are stepping up their game and modes of operation as casualties multiply on both side and the groaning civilians, one might be tempted to say the war is far from over.
