Social media platforms, WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram have gone silent, leaving the entire world ‘unread’.
At about 4 PM Cameroon time, the Social Media platforms stopped working, with no clue as to why.
Shortly after, WhatsApp took to the rival social media platform, Twitter to announce the difficulty. “We are aware that some people are experiencing issues with WhatsApp at the moment,” its tweet read.
“We’re working to get things back to normal and will send an update here as soon as possible,” it added.
The same message was shared on Facebook’s Twitter account. The tech giant however failed to explain any technicalities regarding the incident.
It should be recalled such outages are not new, as similar crashes were recorded in March and July 2021.
Many have since rushed to Telegram and other messaging platforms to continue to interact with each other. Others have simply taken to text messaging, to overcome the communication barrier.
