Pascal Abunde, President of PWD Social Football Club of Bamenda has been elected president of the Association of Elite Clubs of Cameroon (ACEC).

The 41-year-old Pascal Abunde was unanimously voted by 28 out of 35 elite club presidents present during the Extraordinary General Assembly of ACEC that took place Saturday, October 16, 2021, in Yaounde.

Before Saturday’s Extraordinary General Assembly, the affairs of the Association were manned by Pierre Batamak, president of Avion Academy of Nkam, who was handed leadership of the Association on a temporal basis, during one of their meetings on Friday, October 08, 2021.

“Being President of the Association of Professional football Clubs in Cameroon is yet another huge Challenge. We pray that God inspires us not only to lead but to succeed especially in these difficult times when our beautiful game needs us most”, President Pascal Abunde wrote on his Twitter handle.

With Pascal Abunde’s recent successes at the helm of PWD Bamenda, there is renewed hope that he will transform the association to a different level with his visionary skills.

The Association of Elite Clubs of Cameroon, ACEC was previously headed by Frank Happi, then president of Union Sportive of Douala, but he automatically lost his position, after he resigned from Union.

Before the unanimous decision to choose Pascal Abunde as the president of ACEC, he was previously the fourth vice president under the Frank Happi-led Bureau.

The biggest challenge for the Pascal Abunde-led bureau will be the start of the 2021-2022 football season in Cameroon, which is still uncertain and looks likely to begin just after the African nations cup.
