After lifting the ban on the circulation of bikes within the Bali subdivision, the Senior Divisional Officer for Mezam, Simon Emile Mooh has called on bike riders to acquire essential documents in other to freely circulate within Mezam division.
A release issued Wednesday, October 20, indicates that commercial motorbike riders must obtain a National Identity Card, driver’s license, insurance, motorbike registration card, matriculation number, number plate, regular jacket, yellow paint on the tank of the bike, and a council motorbike number.
For owners of private motorbikes, the release states that they should own a national identity card, driver’s license, and insurance plus a motorbike registration card and a matriculation number plate.
The decision, it should be noted, comes hours after the SDO took another decision suspending the order which restricted the circulation of commercial motorbikes in Bali, Mezam Division.
In the past, efforts by the Bamenda City Council authorities to get commercial bike riders to get these things have been fruitless. Thousands of bikes were impounded and tanks forcefully painted into yellow but that still didn’t change the narrative.
