At least two separatist fighters are believed to have been killed in a gunfire exchange with the military in Bamenda yesterday. The bodies of the deceased were displayed at the Bamenda Food Market, some hours after the gunfire exchange had ended.
Hundreds of travelers were interrupted along the Kumba-Mamfe road in the South West Region of Cameroon today. Security officers stationed on the road, travelers say, stopped them, and permitted only those going into Mamfe to proceed. All those heading in the other direction were forced to walk.
The Mayor of the Buea Council, Barrister David Namange has denied accusing ‘settlers’ of a bomb blast in the University of Buea. In a release, the Mayor’s Chief of Cabinet said the council will never be a propagator of hate speech. However, the Mayor is on record as having said it was committed by “some misguided individuals who have been received in Buea.”
Antoinette Kongso, ex-lover to Separatist ‘General’ No Pity today appeared in court for the first time since her arrest months ago. Arrested, tortured, and detained while heavily pregnant, her lawyers maintain the arrest is illegal. She is yet to be charged.
The director of the Saint Elizabeth Catholic General Hospital in Shison, Kumbo has condemned the invasion of the hospital by Government forces. The military, she said, forcefully searched the hospital for Amba fighters, and also brutalized security guards while threatening the doctors at the hospital.
