The archbishop emeritus of Bamenda, His Grace Cornelius Fontem Esua has stated that the Catholic Church in Cameroon has played a major role in resolving the current sociopolitical unrest in the North West and South West regions through persistent prayers.
He made the declaration in Bamenda during a special mass to celebrate 50 years of his priesthood.
On the occasion in which three other prelates celebrated 50 years of priesthood, the presiding Archbishop of Bamenda, His Grace Andrew Nkea described the men of God as exemplary in their preaching and ways of life.
They were all ordained in 1971 into the priesthood. Archbishop Emeritus Cornelius Fontem Esua retired at the peak of the crisis in the North West and South West regions and mentioned that the church has never ignored the need to pray for an end to the stalemate.
