A fire that broke out in Koutaba is said to have burnt down several houses and some shops in the town.
According to testimonies from witnesses, the fire was caused by fuel, stored by a local fuel dealer, later on spreading to the surrounding houses and business areas close by.
Despite the massive turnout of the population to put out the flames, they were nevertheless largely unsuccessful with the burning fuel causing considerable amounts of property damage.
The population was also dismayed with the conspicuous absence of the firefighting unit from the Noun Division. According to them, the damage would have been limited if they could count on the services of the firefighters’ brigade.
