The people of Nkambe in Donga Mantung Division, North West Region have a new traditional ruler.
The new Fon, Nji Amidu was enthroned at a ceremony recently as Nkambe natives converged to celebrate the journey of their former ruler, HRH Fon Nfor Ibrahim J.
Present at the ceremony were hundreds from far and wide, including Members of Parliament and other administrators from the area.
Still young and energetic, the new Fon has since enthronement, taken over the tasks initially performed by his predecessor.
Like many other traditional rulers in the North West and South West regions today, Fon Nji Amidu will have as one of his top challenges, governing subjects in a shaky sociopolitical context.
While Nkambe and Donga Mantung Division as a whole remain peaceful as compared to other parts of the Anglophone regions, the effects of the crisis on daily life cannot be undermined.
The traditional ruler will therefore not only seek to maintain the existing law and order in his zone of command but will also be expected to play a role in the return to normalcy in Nkambe and the entire division.
