The North West Regional Assembly and the North West Governor’s office have begun a one-month program to ensure a smooth transfer of competence from the state to the regional assembly.
Governor Adolphe Lele Afrique chaired the launch of the program recently. Speaking at the event, he lauded the initiative and tasked the officials of the Regional assembly to render the special status package for the North West region concrete by carrying out development-oriented projects.
A December 28, 2021, presidential decree empowered the North West Regional Assembly to reinforce its personnel strength following the creation of more technical services in the decentralized structure. The goal going by the decree is to improve on development projects in the areas of transport, education, and health.
The North West Delegate of Public Service and Administrative Reforms, Ekane Ivo Ekoti, who is heading a group of experts to render the presidential decree concrete said: “The principal mandate we have is to draw up a draft of three important managerial instruments”.
The committee shall draw up the organisational text of the North West Regional Assembly, the organic framework, and its administrative procedure manual.
