A 47-year-old man popularly known to be a carpenter has been apprehended by law enforcement agents with a consignment of five bags of marijuana in Nkongsamba, Moungo division of the Littoral region.
He was apprehended by elements of the Moungo North Gendarmerie Brigade. Gendarmerie sources revealed to the media that the man was arrested following insight from an informant in Nkongsamba.
The cannabis weighing over 34 kilograms was concealed inside a truck which was transporting fresh food items.
According to the Gendarmes, they mounted a road check in wait for the truck when they were given Intel of the cargo.
The cargo was subsequently destroyed by the law enforcement agents, in the presence of judicial and administrative authorities.
The alleged trafficker meanwhile has been placed under custody, pending further investigations and trial.
