The City Mayor of Bamenda, Paul Achombong has said the current works between Welcome To Bamenda and the Monument at Up Station Bamenda, North West region will consume 1 billion FCFA.
The road, he said does not constitute part of the Babadjou – Bamenda road project.

Achombong also revealed that the road works are funded by Road Fund. Will take over one billion seven hundred million is estimated at more than one billion seven hundred million francs.

The stretch of road he said will help facilitate the movement of persons and goods into and out of the town. “About a year or so, this road was near cut-off point. So I had to look for all sort of emergency procedure to remedy the road from total collapse” the City Mayor said.

” That is when we contracted Edge Construction company and ask him to get the road done. He is just finishing a very wonderful job he had started long ago”, he added.

The stretch of road from Welcome to Bamenda to the monument at Up Station Bamenda has always been a nightmare to road users in both rainy and dry seasons.
Last year during the rainy season, the road almost cut off around the Tradex petrol station area due to heavy rains.

The issue of roads continues to be a nightmare to the entire North West region and Bamenda in particular. The Bamenda-Babadjou road remains a mystery, roads within the city of Bamenda and even those leading to the various divisions leaves nothing to ride home about as they are all shadows of themselves.
