The President of Cameroon Renaissance Movement, CRM party, Prof Maurice Kamto, has distanced his party from a recent attack by some individuals on pro-Biya Government activist, Steve Fah.

Kamto says the attack, allegedly staged by Brigade Anti-Sardinad, an anti-regime diapora movement usually aligned to the CRM party, does not reflect the ideologies of his party.

Talking about a video that depicted the brutality rained on Steve Fah, Kamto said: “This scene, shocking in its brutality, testifies to the growing aggressiveness in our society. It is totally unacceptable.”

“I strongly condemn, once again, such violence against a peaceful citizen, and address to Mr. Fah, on behalf of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement (CRM) and in my own name, our message of compassion and our wishes for a speedy recovery in case he was injured”.

The violence, Kamto went on, “… is contrary to our deep convictions and to the fundamental political option of our party, which is tolerance and change in peace.”

Steve was attacked by a group of men in Brussels, Belgium, on March 23 while he was about to do a presentation on his TARA+ online TV, where he is also General Manager.

“This attack occurred in a meeting room in Brussels at Cabinet Lexlau while he was holding a ‘meeting for exchanges and sharing of experiences with Cameroonian students and workers in Belgium’,” wrote TARA+ Deputy General Manager, Eloka Jean Paul.

In a release on the TV’s social media outlets, Eloka added: “Following this attack, Mr Steve Fah received medical treatment and is now out of danger. While denouncing this barbaric act, we thank you for all the messages of support and announce that Mr Steve Fah will speak this evening at 7:00 p.m. on his official page and on that of TARA+.”

The attack on Steve Fah has been the talk of the day on many social media platforms, with mixed reactions from various parties.

However, the Brigade Anti-Sardinad, whose members are being accused of pertrating the act, has not claimed responsibility.

In his message, Prof Kamto says those who staged the attack are not worthy of the CRM party, because the party stands for peace.

“I reiterate that any denunciation must be done without contempt, that any political or opinion disagreement must be expressed through words and with respect for the physical integrity and dignity of others.

“Any perpetrator of an act of violence against a peaceful citizen, whether or not he is a member of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement, is unworthy of the National Resistance and cannot act in my name or that of our party, the CRM,” Kamto said.
