The Bafut Council in Mezam division of the North West region has despite the security challenges associated with the armed conflict in the English-speaking regions, scored herself 100 percent in execution of 2021 public investment projects.
The mayor of the Bafut Council, Ngwakongoh Lawrence, made the assessment during a recent council session to review the 2021 administrative and management accounts of the locality.
The Bafut Council, he said, will embark on assessing the specific needs and challenges of the people with disabilities in the municipality.
He also indicated that the Bafut Council will rehabilitate schools and hospitals destroyed in the municipality. The Bafut Council prides itself as one of the councils in the North West region to have executed all projects for 2021.
The mayor, Ngwakongoh Lawrence said, the need for school and health infrastructure is a top priority. “Many schools within the municipality are dilapidated. We are struggling to renovate these schools for our children”, said Ngwakongoh.
One of the councilors of the municipality admits that Bafut is still plagued with insecurity but it is a point of duty to ensure that the population has access to basic social amenities.
As the farming season is around the corner, the council has also distributed farming inputs to the population to sustain food security in the area.
