The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon are set to play their first game at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar on Thursday. They will take on Switzerland at the Al Janoub Stadium.
The tournament opened today with Ecuador thrashing hosts, Qatar, 2-0. Following the kick off, Cameroonian fans have remained hopeful that their side puts up a mouthwatering performance come Thursday.
This, is following a series of unsatisfactory preparatory wins in the build up to the competition. The latest was a 1-1 draw with Panama just hours before the players tool off for Qatar.
Now at the tournament, they will have to prove their mettle or go home. In addition to Switzerland, they will have to go through Serbia and tournament favourites, Brazil too to make it to the next round.
Meanwhile, on the streets of Qatar, some Cameroonian entertainers have been animating the atmosphere, with skits and performances. Among them are the likes of Tiktoker, Diana Bouli, comedian, Monsieur Chantal and rapper, Tenor.
Them travelling to Qatar had sparked varied reactions with many expressing the desire to see more Anglophones make the list.
With the tournament well underway now, fans and football lovers are settling to out aside their differences and enjoy the games.
