An imprisoned victim of the Anglophone crisis held in custody at the Bamenda Central Prison has died, MMI has gathered.

He died after being rushed to Mbingo Baptist Hospital Annex, Nkwen-Bamenda.

Venyeni Romanus, reports say, was rushed to Mbingo Baptist Hospital Saturday, November 18,2022 after his health deteriorated.

“He was sick and prison authorities refused to take him to the hospital on time”, an inmate at Bamenda Central Prison told MMI.

He died shortly after arriving at the hospital.

“They only took him to Mbingo, two days ago, and unfortunately he died,” the source said adding, “His corpse has been abandoned at Mbingo Baptist Hospital Annex with no one saying anything. His wife and family are far off in Kumbo”

Venyeni Romanus was arrested in Kumbo and detained in Bamenda for several years.

Detainees of the Anglophone crisis have been dying recently in greater numbers across most detention centers in Cameroon.

A few days ago another died at the Buea Central Prison with another recorded at Kondengui maximum security prison in Yaounde.
