Police brutality has become the order of the day in Bambili, North West Region of Cameroon — and sadly students are most affected.
About a week ago a student was beaten to near death in front of the University of Bamenda’s Main Gate for refusing to transport an officer.
Yesterday evening at about 6:30PM a similar situation took place.
Another soldier frightened a student who was on his bike with his mates by pointing a gun at them.
The military man then used the gun and got the rider well beaten, removing some of his teeth. The young man equally went unconscious.
When his parents went to the brigade to complain, they were told that their son had an accident in front of the campus and that more development on the incident would be communicated to them after investigations.
“We have also noticed that some soldiers consume alcohol, even in the morning at a bar near the school campus.”
Please, can something be done to check this treatment meted on students before the situation gets out of hand?
